AAK Safety

Clothing for Those Who Work at Great Heights!

– You can’t just sneak away to change clothes, says a safety instructor at Aak Safety.

Working high above the ground means that your clothing and equipment need to work together. If you don’t adapt to your surroundings, the risk of injury and accidents increases significantly.

An Open-Air Workspace

At Aak Safety, people are taught how to work safely at high altitudes, and their instructors conduct courses worldwide—from Africa and Asia to the United States and Greenland.

– Knowledge about safety for high-altitude work has improved significantly over the past 10–15 years, but there is always more to be done, says Michael Gullvert, the company’s head of education.

– Many don’t realize the importance of the right clothing until they’re up there in a tower or a wind turbine. Up there, you’re completely dependent on your clothing working as it should. We operate in extremely exposed environments, and there’s no opportunity to change clothes once you’re up there, he points out.

Gullvert explains that it’s also wise to avoid workwear with pockets on the hips or chest, as the harness will cover them anyway. And surprisingly, many people forget to dress according to the weather- like wearing clothes that can withstand wind and rain.

– Even if the wind is calm on the ground, it can be significantly stronger up there.

What feels like a light breeze on the ground can quickly turn into strong winds at the top.

– It goes without saying that you work safer and better when you’re not freezing or bothered by clothes that don’t fit well or have poorly placed pockets.

Impressed by the Quality

After many years of experience, Aak Safety has determined that L.Brador is their preferred brand for workwear. There’s a reason they’ve used L.Brador for over 11 years.

– During that time, we’ve tested other brands, but we’ve always returned to L.Brador. The clothes last longer, have better stretch, and the pockets are placed in the right spots. Plus, they offer clothing for both women and men, which is important to us, says Gullvert.

He also highlights the importance of L.Brador’s collections for both genders, as they have both female and male instructors.

– L.Brador makes workwear that’s both durable and long-lasting, while also being smartly and functionally designed. I have clothes that are over 11 years old and still in use,” smiles the safety expert. “That’s what I call good quality!

Elin Lundström, concept manager at L.Brador, adds that comfort and safety go hand in hand.

– If the clothes don’t fit well, there’s a good chance they won’t be used. Workwear should never be a barrier to getting the job done, she says.

– When you feel comfortable, you perform better- it’s as simple as that, concludes Lundström.
